Transmission roller chain offers longer life
Transmission roller chain has solid rollers, manufactured to achieve an extremely high surface hardness, and to ensure high wear resistance in hostile environments as well as improving chain life.
The issuing company, one of the most familiar household brand name food producers, made the final decision based on a number of considerations, including Wyko's previous success with a similar project for Ford Getrag at Halewood.
Victor Harris of Wyko's Electronic Repairs Division in Aintree commented, "Five companies were invited to tender and Wyko were by no means the lowest price bidder.
For a contract of this type to work, the supplier has to be able to deliver on service commitments and I believe confidence in our ability to deliver won out.

Right angle bevel helical gearboxes have efficiency levels of up to 97% and are designed to replace worm and wheel gearboxes in a wide range of applications, including cranes and conveyors.
Effective management systems, detailed site inventory, in-house technical expertise and available capacity are all crucial elements.
The contract is operated on a fixed price / cost down basis and so the Wyko team were keen not to fall into the trap of bidding too low just to secure the contract.
We knew that we had a strong written proposal to submit, including asset management, stock control and a detailed scheme of preventative maintenance that we hoped would tip the balance in our favour.
In a cost down situation, the recipient company agrees to pay a monthly figure for repairs and has to be sure that the service supplied will be first rate or their money is wasted." As an approved Danfoss repair specialist, Wyko had already carried out repairs on equipment at the client's site, proving their expertise and speed of service prior to the contract being opened for tender.
Wyko were also able to show the effective results of a similar contract already in operation at the Getrag Ford Power Transmission Plant at Halewood.
Vic Harris admits "the Getrag Ford contract taught us a great deal about our tendering technique for this type of 'Industrial Electronic Asset Management ' contract, but more about ensuring our service and systems are fast, efficient and accurate.
This has given us the confidence to bid for and win this type of contract.
Getrag Ford is extremely pleased with the work we have done and found our detailed monthly reports a welcome reassurance of the benefits the service has brought.
Our new client can expect the same levels of service and success from us." Keith Hargreaves, Wyko's Area Director added, "Wyko have a close working relationship with our large scale manufacturing clients, we believe a high level of inclusion is essential for us to provide the most efficient maintenance and repair services.
This approach has enabled us to grow by providing structural business solutions where cost control and profitability become medium to long-term goals rather than a result of short-term 'quick fix' measures.
In this instance, stock control has developed into 'asset management' and preventative maintenance is used as an investment in minimising down time by ensuring emergency work is kept to an absolute minimum. Request free introductory details about products from Eriks UK ...
