Pirelli plant reaps benefits of heat loss survey

Eriks has carried out an energy and heat loss survey at the Pirelli manufacturing plant in Carlisle.
The survey took two days to complete, cost less than GBP600 a day and caused negligible disruption to Pirelli's operations.
After the survey, Eriks presented Pirelli with a report including individual thermographic images and recommendations to prevent heat-loss.
Mark Eagling of Eriks said: 'We found cases where the insulation looked perfect but was, in fact, ineffective because covered insulation had degraded to the point it was not detectable by normal methods.
Pirelli is now taking the recommended steps to address the issues identified in the survey.
