The area sales manager for machine tools in the UK's East Midlands, Norfolk and Lincolnshire has been named as Steve Alker by XYZ Machine Tools.
A former apprentice with grinding machine manufacturer Jones and Shipman, Steve Alker, 37, is XYZ Machine Tools' new area sales manager for the East Midlands, Norfolk and Lincolnshire.
In addition, he is also taking sales responsibility for the Peterborough area of Cambridgeshire Alker brings a wealth of hands-on experience to this role - gained initially as a programmer in a sub-contracting company.
He then provided applications engineering advice and technical support to customers of two of the UK's leading machine tool suppliers before transferring to sales.
"I understand what the customer expects from his machine and I can help him to get the most from it," he said.
"Joining XYZ Machine Tools means I can put my experience to good use, especially as the company's products are designed specifically to meet the challenges inherent in prototype and small batch production.
