At the UK's recent Autosport show, orders were placed on the stand of XYZ Machine Tools for a 'mini-mill' compact vertical machining centre and a combination lathe.

This year's UK Autosport Engineering exhibition provided XYZ Machine Tools of Burlescombe, Devon, with an excellent opportunity to highlight a metal cutting product range ideally suited to the prototype and small batch production requirements of the motor sport industry and its suppliers The response, according to Nigel Atherton, XYZ's managing director, exceeded pre-show expectations

"Orders for an XYZ Mini Mill compact vertical machining centre and an XYZ ProTURN manual/CNC lathe were among those placed on the stand, and I am confident that many of the enquiries received during the two-day show will result in further orders," he said.

As well as the XYZ manual/CNC and full-CNC machines on display, the Ducati T Bob custom motorcycle designed and built by Allmond Custom Cycles of Chesterton, Oxfordshire, attracted the attention of many visitors to the XYZ stand.

Most of the components on this one-off masterpiece were machined on Roger Allmond's XYZ ProtoTRAK SMX 2000 turret mill and XYZ ProTURN 355 lathe, demonstrating that these manual/CNC machines are an ideal choice for one-off and prototype work.

Having for many years provided motor sport customers with manual/CNC mills and lathes equipped with the easy-to-program ProtoTRAK control, XYZ also took the opportunity at Autosport Engineering 2007 to promote its full-CNC range of machine tools.

All XYZ vertical machining centres, turning centres, bridge mills and 'extra large' capacity lathes are now equipped as standard with the user-friendly Siemens ShopMill and ShopTurn conversational controls. Request free introductory details about products from XYZ Machine Tools ...

"'Smart solutions for low volume production' is what XYZ Machine Tools is all about," said Atherton, "And Autosport Engineering 2007 succeeded in attracting the right audience for our particular message.".
