A number of orders were taken at the show including two for the new Matchmaker machines.
A VMC-820 was bought by a small subcontractor on the south coast, while a VMC-1100 was ordered by a west country-based company producing components for the railway industry.
Yamazen's managing director, Colin Donhue, was pleased with the reaction to these new machines -- which see the Matchmaker name return to production engineering circles.
"In the current climate, sales of these new VMCs are going quite well and they are attracting genuine interest across manufacturing.
We've even had mould makers commenting on the high level of performance and value for money that the Matchmaker series provides.
Several other orders are already in the pipeline." The VMC-820 has a working envelope of 820 by 510 by 500mm and is priced at GBP 28,200 while the larger VMC-1100 has axis travels of 1100 by 550 by 600mm and sells for just GBP 34,900.
Both machines have an 8000 rev/min oil-cooled spindle, hardened and ground slideways, 24-station ATC, swarf conveyor and Fanuc OMD control system.
They are also available with a five year warranty.
