Drilling and tapping at high speeds
Following impressive sales in Italy and the rest of continental Europe, the Samsung LCV30A high speed drilling and tapping centre is now available in the UK from Surrey-based Yamazen (UK).
Modern VMC boosts university's production ability
The installation of a VMC will help optimise wing section machining and certain mould making routines at Kingston University's School of Engineering.
Of solid cast construction, the HSM 1000 has a large working envelope of 1020 (X) by 610 (Y) by 610mm (Z axis), a powerful 22.5kW main motor and a 10,000 rev/min oil-cooled spindle (for increased accuracy).
This digitally controlled, heavy duty vertical machining centre is ideal for the precise and productive machining of a wide range of 2, 21/2 and 3D components.
As such, it will have applications in the mould and die industry for machining complex forms in steel and the aerospace sector for producing aluminium components at high speed.
While the all-round capability and power of this new Performance Range machine will also appeal to subcontractors and component producers, alike.
Non-productive times have been kept to the minimum with rapid traverse rates of 36m/min in all three axes and a 24-station, twin-arm ATC which can change tools in only 2 sec.
Other standard features of the 40 BT taper spindle machine include a screw-type swarf conveyor and a coolant wash system.
Finished in a grey and ivory livery and attractively styled, the HSM 1000 sells for just GBP 54,950 - a 'good' price for a high quality machine tool of this capacity.
Yamazen now offers three machines in its Matchmaker range of VMCs - two low cost models (the VMC 820 and VMC1100) and the brand new Performance Range HSM 1000.
As managing director, Colin Donhue outlined: "We always planned to add higher specification machines to the Matchmaker stable, it was just a case of getting the timing right.
Well, with business in general now picking up in the UK and an upturn in orders over the last few months for both our Mitsubishi horizontal machining centres and Matchmaker verticals, we decided to go ahead with the launch of this new, high quality vertical machining centre.".
