Yamazaki to stage 'EMO Encore' for UK buyers
UK buyers and specifiers of machine tools who were unable to attend the EMO exhibition can view and assess new Mazak machine tools at Yamazaki Machinery, Worcester, January 29-February 1.
"The response to the overall event was very encouraging and in all we welcomed 523 registered guests," explains sales director Tony Saunders.
"Visitors were very enthusiastic about the new Nexus machine tools which are ground breaking in that they combine high specifications and Mazak's acclaimed build quality at a significantly lower price.
"As a result of their introduction, when the upturn in manufacturing occurs we will be ready and able to meet the expected demand across the spectrum from entry level to highly sophisticated machine tools." Commenting on market conditions, Saunders adds, "In common with many, at Mazak we are not seeing too much strategic investment in capital projects at present.

Optimise machining in a mill-turning centre
Having recently introduced one of the world's most innovative ranges of new generation machine tools Yamazaki Mazak will be featuring two of its 'e' models at the MACH 2002 exhibition.
However, those manufacturer's with either new or on-running contracts are still investing in technology by purchasing new machines offering significant productivity advantages." Mazak's Quickturn Nexus turning machines incorporate all the features of the class leading Mazak Super Quickturn 2 axis lathes but their higher specification includes a programmable electric NC tailstock which, by eliminating manual adjustment, offers simplified set-up, higher accuracy and positioning with the thrust force setting via the NC programme.
The new Vertical Centre Nexus range joins the highly successful VTC 200C and 300C by replacing the VTC 200B but with a greater range of capacities.
The Vertical Centre Nexus 410A with its 18.5 kW spindle motor for general purpose machining and offers customers a high performance machining centre in a smaller size not previously available from Mazak.
The Mazak Integrex 200-III series is the latest development to the world's most advanced range of multi-tasking machine tools, providing improved single set-up turning and milling performance.
The new model incorporates the same 5 axis capability but with more power to the milling spindle, higher speeds and the option of a lower 2-axis turret which provides for simultaneous machining from top and bottom tooling.
Finally, on demonstration for the first time was the new high speed Mazak IVS-200 inverted spindle CNC lathe which is particularly suited to the manufacture of high volume components.
In the IVS-200, the travel of the inverted vertical spindle is used for both work piece loading and unloading as well as machining.
On a single machine, the unit is equipped with a work piece turn around device but where required, multiple combinations of the IVS-200 can be integrated by conveyors, enabling the simultaneous finish machining of both sides of the workpiece in an automated operation.
Visitors to the Open House were able to tour the completely upgraded plant which has, in the past 12 months, undergone a GBP 10m investment in a programme that includes the installation of two new FMS machining lines and a significant investment in support facilities including a new customer training academy.
