'Entry level' turning centres have
driven tooling

Two 'entry level' turning centres introduced at MACH 2004 feature three-axis turning, one-hit machining and combine a small footprint with a large machining envelope.

Since its introduction, the Mazak Nexus range of entry level, 2 axis turning centres and vertical machining centres has proved very popular, offering users all of the acclaimed features of Mazak quality and technology at very competitive prices Now the turning centre range has been expanded with the introduction of machines with driven tools - the Quick Turn Nexus 350M and the Quick Turn Nexus 250MS - both of which were featured at MACH 2004

The new Quick Turn Nexus 350M has three axes and a milling function while the smaller Quick Turn Nexus 250MS was demonstrated making use of its second spindle to achieve done-in-one machining.

The rotary tools can be mounted on all positions of the 12 drum turret for highly efficient machining while the quick change format of tool holder can be loaded or unloaded by a single turn of a wrench for minimised set-up times.

The machines feature a small footprint combined with a large machining envelope.

Standard chuck sizes are 315mm on the Nexus 350M and 250mm on the 250MS.

Also on show for the first time in the UK was the Horizontal Centre Nexus 6000, a high performance, general purpose horizontal machining centre offering high speed spindle output and positioning with an automatic tool changer that can hold up to 43 tools.

The pallet size of the Nexus HC 6000 is 500 x 500mm with a 800mm travel in all axes and an impressive 60m/min rapid traverse rate.

Again, the machine is very competitively priced.

One vertical Nexus machining centre was featured - the Vertical Centre Nexus 410A.

The machine has a rapid traverse rate of 36m/min, offers a 30-tool storage capacity and has a maximum spindle speed of 12,000 rev/min.

Finally, the two axis Quick Turn Nexus 100 equipped with a magazine bar feeder demonstrated its capabilities in a production environment.

As with all Nexus machines the overall 'package' offers versatility, speed, precision and a small footprint within a highly competitive pricing structure.

Since their introduction, the Mazak Nexus series has rapidly established a reputation for advanced technology and high performance combined with exceptional value.
