Advanced CNC has improved cycles

Advanced conversational/shop-floor programming features the Mazatrol CNC, to which cycles have been added or improved, such as simultaneous machining of two components.

With the global launch at EMO 2005 of the Mazatrol Matrix control, Yamazaki Mazak has taken the development of CNC systems to the next level Mazatrol MATRIX uses the most advanced hardware available in combination with intuitive software developments to provide the highest productivity levels for manufacturing industry

Among the key features of Mazatrol Matrix is its advanced conversational/shop-floor programming capability.

Numerous Mazatrol cycles have been added or improved, such as simultaneous machining of two components; pocket milling with multiple islands; mill turning; helical approach to pocket milling; and B-axis indexing for turning tools.

For office-based programming Mazatrol Matrix-CAM can significantly reduce the time required to achieve the first-off component.

By integrating Mazatrol MatrixCAM with Mazak's Cyber Production Centre software the programmer can take full advantage of the in-built Matrix-CAM 3-D simulation software, schedule work, and monitor tool and workpiece loading situations.

Matrix-CAM contains the complete kinematics and characteristics for each machine and, because of this, each component can be 'virtually machined'.

This highlights any potential collision points and identifies areas of a program where it may be possible to reduce excessive positioning movements.

This feature is available as an office-based application or via the Matrix control.

The resulting program can then be uploaded in Mazatrol language.

To deliver this high level of performance Mazak has used the latest in computer hardware, including a 64-bit twin-engine processor, 16 million pulse encoders, USB and Ethernet interfaces, and a greatly increased hard disk storage capacity.

Several machines on the Yamazaki Mazak stand at EMO 2005 were equipped with the Mazatrol Matrix.

Visitors can see for themselves the considerable reduction in manufacturing lead times from design to start of production that can be achieved, along with the consistent high quality and reduced cycle times that are a result of the combination of Mazak machine tools and Mazatrol control.
