HMCs have larger machining platform

Horizontal machining centre provides a much larger machining platform than is currently available, combined with levels of accuracy at twice the ISO standard.

Yamazaki Mazak's Nexus range of machines now has a larger horizontal spindle model - the Horizontal Centre Nexus 8800-II - that combines high rigidity with high accuracy machining Shown at the recent EMO 2007 machine tool exhibition, the Horizontal Centre Nexus 8800-II provides a much larger machining platform than is currently available

Yamazaki Mazak told Manufacturingtalk that the machine offers levels of accuracy at twice the ISO standard.

The company has done this by using high accuracy ball screws and linear roller guides on all axes.

The Horizontal Centre Nexus 8800-II is equipped with an 8000 rev/min, 37kW (50HP) spindle with 1210Nm of torque (optional).

The company said to manufacturingtalk that it is the highest torque rating available on an integral spindle motor.

The new machine's base and column have been designed specifically to accommodate this high level of torque.

The NC rotary table makes use of a roller gear cam mechanism to provide significant levels of rigidity and a high-speed indexing capability.

These features, when combined with rapid traverse rates of 60m/min and a maximum tool length of 630mm make the Horizontal Centre Nexus 8800-II a highly productive machine tool.

It has the flexibility to deliver increased productivity across a range of industries and applications, said Yamazaki Mazak. Request a free brochure from Yamazaki Mazak UK ...
