Larger VMC has 50 taper spindle
In response to market demand, including mould and die makers, a machine tool builder has introduced a larger vertical machining centre with a 50 taper spindle.
Yamazaki Mazak UK reported that its development of the Vertical Centre Nexus 700D-II was in response to market demand for a larger Nexus vertical machining centre (VMC) equipped with a 50 taper spindle The VMC has high levels of performance and accuracy ideally suited to customers producing the complex surfaces typically found in the mould and die sector, said Yamazaki

Yamazaki to stage 'EMO Encore' for UK buyers
UK buyers and specifiers of machine tools who were unable to attend the EMO exhibition can view and assess new Mazak machine tools at Yamazaki Machinery, Worcester, January 29-February 1.
For carrying out heavy metal removal and fine finishing operations, the VMC has an 8000 rev/min, 30kW (40HP) integral spindle/motor delivering a torque of 302Nm.
A spindle head cooling system and ballscrew core cooling is standard on all axes.
These features, in conjunction with Mazak's Intelligent Thermal Shield program, guarantees increased levels of consistent accuracy, said the company.
Productivity is further enhanced by the large (1740mm by 700mm) machine table on which single or multiple components can be loaded up to a maximum weight of 2000kg.
This large table capacity, in conjunction with axis strokes of 1530mm (X), 700mm (Y) and 650mm (Z) and traverse rates up to 30m/min, provides an ideal platform for high-efficiency machining, said Yamazaki to manufacturingtalk.com.
* Fast toolchanger - the Vertical Centre Nexus has the tool capacity to carry sister tooling for long cycle components or multiple tool packages for a variety of components.
Its standard 24 position tool magazine can be enlarged to 48 or 60 positions through options and is served by a toolchange mechanism delivering tool-to-tool changes in only 2s Mazak's Mazatrol Matrix sixth generation CNC system's ease of use is enhanced by a QWERTY keyboard, large CNC display screen, and the choice of either Mazatrol conversational or EIA/ISO programming methods.
Machine tool, components and operator also benefit from the integration of Mazak's Intelligent Machine functions, such as the following.
* Intelligent Safety Shield.
* Virtual Machining.
* Mazak Voice Advisor.
* Intelligent Thermal Shield.
* Active Vibration Control.
