Mill-turn versatility leads to reduced
cycle times

Upper and lower turrets used on an advanced, multi-tasking, mill-turn centre at MACH 2008 allow balanced cutting to reduce cycle times in 'one-hit' machining.

Yamazaki Mazak UK will be showing the Integrex 200-IV ST multi-tasking machine tool with incomparable machining versatility at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition The machine is equipped with upper and lower turrets that allow balanced cutting to reduce cycle times

To further enhance productivity the second spindle is of identical specification to the main spindle at 5000 rev/min and 22kW (30HP) rating.

Milling operations are carried out by the 12,000 rev/min,18.5kW (25HP) milling spindle motor.

This fourth generation Integrex machine tool is part of a range that is the most popular multi-tasking machine in the world, said Yamazaki Mazak to manufacturingtalk.com.

It has achieved this position through the evolution in technology that is available to the user and the enhanced 'Intelligent Functions' that are delivered as part of Mazak's Mazatrol Matrix control system.

* Complete machining - the major advantage of the Integrex range, said Yamazaki Mazak UK, is its ability to complete all machining processes, from raw material to finished component, in a single set-up.

The Integrex 200-IV ST is equipped with a B-axis milling spindle that can tilt up around a 240 deg arc, which, along with the C-axis, can index in 0.0001 deg increments.

All of these features are fundamental to the machine's success and allow Mazak's 'Done-in-One' manufacturing concept to be fully utilised.

Done-in-One allows lead times to be greatly reduced while at the same time reducing dramatically the value of work-in-progress, the number of machine tools required and the overall manpower levels.

All of which have a major impact on user profitability, irrespective of company size.
