The Nexus turning machines range from the Quick Turn Nexus 100-II with a 6in chuck to the Quick Turn Nexus 450-II which mounts a 12in chuck and is also available with a driven tool turret.
The versatility of the range is emphasised by the following.
* A wide machining capacity of between 280mm and 580mm diameter.
* A maximum turned length capacity of between 309mm and 3170mm.
* A maximum bar diameter of up to 165mm.
In addition to the standard 2-axis models the Quick Turn Nexus has variants with rotating tools, a second spindle and a Y-axis.
On show at MACH 2008 will be a QTN250-II MSY which features all of these productivity enhancing benefits.
The inclusion of technology such as integral spindle motors across the Quick Turn Nexus range, combined with increased spindle rigidity and spindle cooling capacity has created a platform capable for cost-effective machining of a wide range of components including additional operations such as drilling and milling using the Y-axis and rotary tool capacity.
The option of a second spindle also brings with it productivity improvements, with components being finished machined in a single set-up.
In designing these UK-built machine tools Mazak underwent a thorough review of the basic machine components using state-of-the-art design technology, while creating a cost-effective range of lathes ideally suited to meet the production needs of businesses large and small.
The Quick Turn Nexus range is equipped with Mazatrol Matrix, Mazak's 6th generation CNC system, whose ease of use is enhanced by a QWERTY keyboard, large CNC display screen, and the choice of either Mazatrol conversational or EIA/ISO programming methods.
