Yamazaki Mazak has introduced the VTC-800/30 SR travelling column five-axis vertical machining centre, designed and built at the company's UK manufacturing plant in Worcester.

The VTC-800/30 SR was the first complete machine tool to be designed in the UK from concept to manufacture.

Yamazaki Mazak\'s highly versatile, 5-axis, travelling column, VTC-800/30 SR VMC has 3m X-axis.

Yamazaki Mazak\'s highly versatile, 5-axis, travelling column, VTC-800/30 SR VMC has 3m X-axis.

Following Mazak's concept of global design, the UK-based engineering team created a design that can be replicated at any of Mazak's Cyber factories around the world.

The design has already been approved for manufacture in Mazak's plants located in the US and Japan.

The VTC-800/30SR was designed with the production of a wide variety of components in mind, across a range of manufacturing sectors, and it meets the demands for flexible manufacturing capacity.

This performance is provided by a large 3m X-axis, which works in combination with the B-axis movement provided by a swivel head.

This swivel-head mechanism reduces set-up time and increases the multi-purpose nature of the machine.

Further versatility is provided by the optional rotary table that makes available the full, simultaneous, five-axis machining of complex features and contours.

The machine can also be equipped with a pendulum machining option to maximise productivity.

Feed rates of 50m/min and a 35kW spindle with a maximum speed of 18,000rev/min further add to the performance of this machine tool.
