Control system is explosion protection certified
The Yokogawa Electric has released an enhanced version of the Stardom network-based control system with CSA explosion protection certification ideal for oil and gas fields.
Introduced to the market in November 2003, the Enemap Energy Management Package is intended for use by power facilities and regional heating/cooling systems.
Enemap predicts energy demand based on operating performance data and weather forecast data.
The package also plans the optimal mix for energy sources (e.g electrical power, city gas, heavy oil) and the best method of operating facilities in order to reduce costs, energy consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions.
As a means of saving energy and reducing carbon dioxide emissions, Enemap is attracting attention in many industries which are striving to curb global warming and attain the goals of the Kyoto Protocol, which came into effect in February 2005.
This award was given to Yokogawa because it has established an excellent energy management technology.
The development of Enemap as a practical packaged solution is greatly benefiting the plants where it is introduced.
ProSafe-RS Safety Instrumented System The Award for New Products is given to companies, enterprises, and other organisations that have greatly contributed in the last two calendar years to the science and technology and industrial fields in which SICE is involved.
This year, only Yokogawa's ProSafe-RS received the award.
Launched in February 2005, ProSafe-RS was the first plant safety instrumented system to be introduced in the Japanese market by a Japanese manufacturer.
This system prevents accidents by detecting abnormal situations while a plant is running, and safely initiates emergency actions such as a plant shutdown.
ProSafe-RS can also be combined with the CENTUM CS3000 Integrated Production Control System to achieve integration of the process control and safety instrumented systems.
Plant information can thus be managed collectively, improving operability.
ProSafe-RS users have rated this system very highly, and Yokogawa has to date delivered more than 200 systems all over the world.
ProSafe-RS achieves both a high safety integrity level and a high availability under IEC 615082[2] .
It is integrated with the CENTUM CS3000 Integrated Production Control System using a safety instrumented system communication protocol that Yokogawa developed in-house.
SICE has acknowledged this contribution to safety instrumented technology by giving Yokogawa the Award for New Products.
Encouraged by these SICE awards, Yokogawa is determined to increase sales of Enemap and ProSafe-RS.
