Indexing tables use mechanical actuation
Precise, five-degree incremental indexing of components on any CNC mill or machining centre is possible using Kawata Touchdex Series 16 indexing tables, available from Yuasa Warwick Machinery.
Precise, five-degree incremental indexing of components on any CNC mill or machining centre is possible using Kawata Touchdex Series 16 indexing tables, available from Yuasa Warwick Machinery The remarkable aspect of these indexers is that they require no electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic services, and do not need any modification to the machine tool's control system

Repeatable EDM accuracy gives die maker the edge
Ona wire EDM cell cuts hollow or solid, simple or complex shapes and single or multi-cavity dies with repeateable accuracy.
This makes them ideal for use with multi-pallet systems and with machines where auxiliary services are not available.
Indexing is achieved using a mechanical escapement within the body of the table.
It is activated by depressing a plunger, normally using the spindle of the machine tool.
The degree of depression of the plunger determines the angle of index of the rotary table, the minimum increment being five degrees of arc.
As an example, on the FDM 160, depressing the plunger for one full stroke - 38 mm - with a force of 30 kg causes the table to index through 45 degrees of arc.
However, by programming the machine to depress the plunger by 1/9th of this distance, a five degree index may be achieved.
Depressing it by 2/9th of the full stroke achieves a 10 degree index and so on.
Time per index is about one second and the mechanism can tolerate plunger depression at up to 5 m/min.
In all there are six models in the Touchdex range with table diameters from 170 mm to 310 mm.
Three of these may be mounted in either vertical or horizontal planes while the other three are designed for horizontal mounting only.
In all cases the minimum angular index increment is five degrees of arc, although full depression of the plunger can result in up to 90 degree movement of the table, dependent on model.
As well as auto-index using the machine CNC program, accessory adaptors are available to provide manual indexing facilities.
In addition, various fixturing accessories can be supplied including air chucks, scroll chucks, a fixture cube and a tailstock.
Cost is claimed to compare with conventional manual indexing tables.
For users who prefer to actuate the plunger pneumatically or hydraulically, these options are also available.
