The newly released support for Microsoft SharePoint features all the benefits of the trusted and proven EAS architecture integrated seamlessly with the SharePoint Portal Server, including transparent user access to archived information and full text search using the native SharePoint search engine.

Brian Babineau, analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group states: "According to a 2005 study by IT analyst firm Enterprise Strategy Group, email has become the most frequently-requested type of business record by courts and regulators: 77% of organisations involved in an electronic data discovery request say they have been asked to produce email messages as part of a legal or regulatory proceeding.
As a result, companies and their corporate counsel have an increased interest in new archiving technologies that encompass the full range of unstructured information, and are integrated with robust discovery capabilities".
EAS 5.0 features a number of enhancements including an expanded set of disclosure capabilities, enabling speedy and cost-effective review and production of information.
Key new features include:.
* Rapid Review - Enables researchers to efficiently review enormous numbers of files and messages fully rendered without having to launch native applications.
* Document Tagging During Review - Provides a way for the reviewer to add matter-centric tags to each reviewed message or file in order to preserve the review results or set a "hold flag" to prevent deletion.
* Search Permissions - Enables organisations to restrict each researcher to a desired subset of the total archived mailboxes, providing more control over the disclosure and review process, especially with regard to sensitive information including executive email.
* Expanded Export Options - Now exports to PST files (Microsoft Exchange), NSF files (Notes/Domino), and native format flat files.
