Zetes will offer its customers the innovative "intelligent printing" approach co-developed by Datamax and technology partner MCL

Zetes, a leading pan-European solutions provider for automatic identification (Auto-ID) of Goods and People, has announced that it has signed a European partnership agreement with Datamax, a subsidiary of Dover Corporation and a leading manufacturer of thermal printers in the bar code-RFID industry.

As the authorised System Integrator for Datamax technology, Zetes will henceforth be able to offer its customers the innovative "intelligent printing" approach co-developed by Datamax and technology partner MCL.

Powersys Print and Apply solutions will de facto be one of the first to benefit from the integration of Datamax print engines and the intelligent printing approach in the Zetes offering.

Developed and produced by Powersys, a member of the Zetes Group, this complete range of printer-applicator solutions can already be equipped with Datamax A Class print engines, and benefit from the smart printing approach described above.

This is a significant surplus value for manufacturing and distribution processes developed by Zetes 3i PandA Competence centre.

"The manufacturing industry (for food and beverages, pharmaceutical products, consumer goods, etc.), in particular, is a market segment where Datamax print engines can greatly contribute to new opportunities for the whole Zetes Group, supporting the development of Auto-ID solutions that meet the mission-critical needs of our customers", emphasises Alain Wirtz, CEO of the Zetes Group.

"Partnering with the European leading Auto-ID system integrator is essential for gaining presence and market share in Europe", notes John Durnford, Datamax' vice president for EMEA sales.

"In combining our innovative and intelligent printing approach with strong added value, MCL knowledge, and Zetes' international presence and competence centres, we are confident that both Datamax and Zetes will quickly reap the fruits of this partnership".

Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, Datamax specialises in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of products for bar code and RFID labeling, including thermal demand printers, labels, ticket and tag materials, and thermal transfer ribbons.

Working in partnership with MCL Technologies, a recognised leader in delivering high-productivity software development tools (MCL-Collection suite) for mobile workforce applications, Datamax exclusively supports MCL-Collection for label printing solutions.

The result is a smart program that resides in the printer, giving it the power of a PC.

This provides users with meaningful operational and economic advantages.

The design development tools (Designer and 123 Print) create programs that eliminate the need to run a "dumb" printer from a work floor PC.

This intelligent printing approach provides direct cost cutting by removing the PC, and also diminishes the need for IT support throughout the whole life cycle of the investment.

An added benefit: by eliminating intermediate equipment, the printer can run standalone or have a direct interface to the IT host environment (ERP systems, MES, WMS, etc.), reducing the risk of downtime for printing processes.

Datamax and MCL also offer printer management tools.

DMXNet Manager provides a central overview of remotely deployed printers in a networked environment.

Print Manager Mobile resides on an MCL-supported PDA, offering the busy production manager immediate printer status and alerts.

These tools can help to achieve 100% productivity of printers in business-critical environments.
