Strong proprietary filled type 6 nylon
ZL engineering plastics, has introduced a proprietary filled type 6 nylon with load capacity and compressive strength similar to that of glass-fibre reinforced nylon.
ZL engineering plastics, has introduced a proprietary filled type 6 nylon with load capacity and compressive strength similar to that of glass-fibre reinforced nylon, but with the machining and mating wear characteristics of unfilled nylon FDA compliance, dimensional stability and a broader service temperature range make new ZL 202 XN a fantastic choice for a wide range of machined part applications

Copolymer acetal rod is 20in diameter
Larger parts can be fabricated from 20in diameter natural copolymer acetal rod, instead cutting components out of plate to greatly reduce the amount of scrap produced.
Cartier and Wilson Co is to represent ZL
Cartier and Wilson Co is to represent ZL engineering plastics' product line in the Southeastern United States.
It is a good alternative to materials that are too soft, such as standard nylons or PTFE, or materials that are too expensive, such as PEEK.
Parts can be easily machined without excessive wear on the fabrication tools, as is often the case when machining glass-filled nylons.
No diamond tipped tools are necessary to machine ZL 202 XN.
ZL 202 XN offers increased mechanical strength with a tensile modulus of elasticity of 4200 MPa (ISO 527 dry).
It can be used continuously in environments to 284degF, and its heat deflection temperature is 334degF.
This new material from ZL also absorbs up to 30% less moisture than standard cast nylon 6.
FDA compliance assures processors that parts machined from ZL 202 XN shapes will meet the stringent equipment requirements of the food industry.
"Using ZL 202 XN in place of glass-filled nylon will save fabricators time and money.
It is much easier to machine and doesn't ruin machine tools," said Patrick Pheffer, President of ZL-West.
"FDA compliance makes it a very broad replacement material option for the food and medical industries." Typical applications for ZL 202 XN include gears, valves, manifolds, can mandrels and other structural and wear parts.
ZL 202 XN will be available on a make-to-order basis in rod from 0.78 inch diameter to 5.90 inch diameter, and in plate from 0.39 inch to 2.36 inch thick.
It is off-white in colour.
