Penetration test on corrugated board
The material property of corrugated board is frequently tested by means of penetration tests
The test with a pendulum impact tester has technical deficiencies and operation-specific disavantages If these tests are however performed with a testing machine, there are essential advantages regarding handling, reliability of test data and costs for the tests

Testing plastics penetration at high speeds
Automatic test system with a high-speed testing machine accomplishes fully automatic high-speed penetration testing of plastics in accordance with ISO and ASTM.
After developing and testing a prototype version, the know-how expert Papiertechnische Stiftung in Munich (PTS) then implemented the penetration test with linear feed (LPET) to be performed with a materials testing machine by Zwick in Ulm.
During the test, the specimen is held between two compression platens.
The upper compression platen is fixed at the machine's movable crosshead and the lower compression platen rests on 3 movable bearings applying at the same time the clamping force onto the specimen.
During the test, the clamped specimen is pressed against the stationary penetration piece which is mounted on a load cell.
The test travel during the test is the height of the penetration piece plus the nominal thickness of the corrugated board.
During the test, the characteristic force-travel curve is recorded and the penetration energy is calculated. Request a free brochure from Zwick Testing Machines ...
